All it takes to grow an organic garden is a few natural growing methods. You just have to learn these ways and utilize them.
Shoveling soil that is mostly clay can be difficult because of the hardness of the soil, and because it sticks to the shovel. To make your digging project easier, apply a coat of automobile wax to your shovel first and then buff it lightly. This will both make the clay fall off of the surface, and prevent the surface from rusting.
A garden with a foundation of healthy soil is the best defense against pests. Healthier plants are stronger, which in turn can help the plants you grow to become more resistant to disease and bugs that can harm them. So if you want your garden to provide plants that are as healthy as possible, you need a good quality soil that contains few chemicals and that can accumulate salts over time.
Flower Beds
Use biennials and annuals to add color to your flower beds. These fast growth plants make flower beds vibrant, and they let you alter the appearance seasonally and annually. You can use them between the gaps in shrubs and perennials where there is plenty of sun. Attention-getting options exist such as sunflowers and petunias.
Consider growing wheat grass or cat grass near the plants your cat enjoys eating. Another option is to place offensively smelling objects on the topsoil near and around the plants you want to protect. Citrus peels or mothballs are a couple of examples.
Make sure to protect your tender shrubs from the elements. Fragile shrubs, that are planted in pots, should be covered to protect them during the cold season. First tie together the tops; then take a sheet or blanket and loosely shroud the wigwam. When you do this you allow air to flow and circulate which can actually prevent rotting, this method is great and better than just wrapping your plant in some plastic.
To save your knees from the wear and tear of horticulture, invest in some knee pads if your garden includes a lot of low-growth plants. Your knees will take a beating if you spend a great deal of time on the ground while tending your garden. With good knee pads, you can stay in the garden longer, and more comfortably.
When tending a vegetable garden, you might find that pest control is a bit difficult. It is wise to limit the use of harsh chemicals, because the vegetables will be eaten. To safely keep your garden pest-free, keep a sharp eye out. By noticing them at an early stage, you can simply pluck them away from your plants with your fingers.
Do not use broad-spectrum pesticides within your garden. These pesticides can kill the useful insects that work as predators to pests. Beneficial insects are more susceptible to strong pesticides than the insects you are actually trying to get rid of. This will lead you to end up killing off the good bugs in your garden, leaving the field wide open for the harmful ones. This can result in your using more pesticides to eradicate the problem.
While anybody can plant a few seeds, only people who’ve educated themselves can create an amazing, thriving organic garden. Make sure to use these organic tips.
